The high Sacred Valley

Chinchero, Maras & Moray

3,762 m.a.s.l.
Placeholder photo Chinchero, Maras & Moray

Overview

This is the other Sacred Valley: the one with circular terraces, salt pans hanging off the hillside and looms still working as they did centuries ago.

We start in Chinchero, an Andean town at 3,762 m where Inca and colonial architecture share the same square, and where wool is still dyed with natural pigments. Then we visit Moray, the set of concentric terraces the Incas used as an agricultural laboratory: each ring holds its own microclimate.

Next we descend to the Maras salt pans, more than three thousand salt pools worked by local families since before the Incas, and we finish at Ollantaytambo, the best preserved ceremonial and military complex in the valley.

The whole day is private, at your own pace, with exclusive transport and a guide dedicated only to your group.
