Perolniyoc Waterfall & Ñaupa Iglesia
Overview
Two places in plain sight of the road to Ollantaytambo that almost nobody stops to see.
The Perolniyoc waterfall drops down a rock wall in a side valley. You reach it after an hour and a half of hiking, and a little higher up sits the archaeological site of the same name, with terraces hanging over the valley.
Ñaupa Iglesia is something else: a carved cave with altars, niches and cuts in the rock of a precision that is hard to explain. It is a ceremonial, silent place, and it remains a puzzle for archaeologists.
The day ends with a buffet lunch in Urubamba before returning to Cusco.
